/the challenge

The Von Braun Center was expanding their campus’ footprint and adding a new, multi-use concert hall which they hoped to be able to use to bring in smaller, more casual performances than their existing 10,000 person stadium. The challenge that they approached me with included crafting the name as well as the logo and branding for this new space. They wanted something that played off of Huntsville's, aka Rocket City, connection with space exploration, and wanted the brand to appeal primarily to a younger (18-40) audience.

/the solution

After exploring a few name and brand options, the VBC team finally settled for Mars Music Hall, along with the rocking astronaut logo. The little space man has a musical note shimmering int he reflection of his helmet, which rocks a set of headphones, playing off of a typical space helmet.  The typeface pays homage to the classic “worm” NASA logo, and gives the brand a playful feel.
